I spent years believing that if I just prayed harder and trusted God more completely, the anxiety would go away. It didn't. Not until I learned how to actually renew my mind — not just recite it.

HER STORY

Walking the road
before writing about it

Hello — I'm Ann-Louise Graham. I'm a freelance journalist, broadcaster, and biblical counsellor, and I have struggled with anxiety, depression, and depersonalisation for much of my adult life.

I came to faith in Christ and trained first in cognitive behavioural therapy, before eventually making the transition to biblical counselling — because I discovered that what the Bible says about the mind, identity, and truth is not just spiritually sound. It works.

I spent years believing that if I just prayed harder and trusted God more completely, the anxiety would go away. It didn't. Not until I learned how to actually renew my mind — not just recite it.

- ANN-LOUISE

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7

Before putting down roots in Northern Ireland, I spent years working across Central America, Southeast Asia, and West Africa — advocating for the wellbeing of women and children in some of the most vulnerable communities in the world. I have seen suffering up close, and I have seen what the gospel does to suffering.

That combination — lived experience of anxiety, professional training in CBT and biblical counselling, and a deep commitment to the gospel — is what shaped The Anxiety Lie. Not theory. Not a formula. A roadmap I walked myself, and now offer to other women.

I remain committed to Christian missions, and proceeds from every book I sell are donated to overseas mission work. My prayer is that these resources help you love the gospel of Jesus Christ more — and move you into the purposes God has for you. To be a light in a dark and hurting world.

HER STORY

From Northern Ireland
to the
ends of the earth

Ann has spent years living and working in communities that most people only read about — advocating for the wellbeing of women and children, and carrying the gospel into places of deep need.

That global perspective shapes everything she writes. Anxiety in a comfortable Western context and suffering in a subsistence community are not the same — and yet the gospel speaks equally into both. Ann writes from a place that has seen both.

THE FOUNDATION OF HER WORK

What Ann believes

Every resource she creates is built on these convictions — not as theory, but as lived truth.

01

Anxiety is not a character flaw

Being an anxious Christian does not mean your faith is weak. It means you are human. God meets us in the struggle — not after we've fixed it.

02

The mind can be renewed — really

Romans 12:2 is not a metaphor. The brain genuinely changes when we bring our thoughts captive to Christ. This is both biblical and neurologically true.

03

The gospel is practical

Christ-based thinking is not abstract spirituality. It is a framework for how you handle a racing heart at 2am — grounded in who God is and who you are in Him.

04

Women deserve real help

Not platitudes. Not "just trust God more." Real, practical, gospel-rooted tools that work in real life — for real women with real responsibilities.

05

Gentleness is a form of faithfulness

The tone of everything Ann writes is deliberate. Women who are already exhausted by anxiety don't need to be pushed harder. They need to be led gently toward truth.

06

The gospel goes everywhere

Ann's commitment to missions is inseparable from her writing. Every book purchase supports overseas Christian mission work — the gospel reaching people who need it most.
