ABOUT ANN-LOUISE
For much of my life, anxiety shaped the way I thought and lived. Before I became a biblical counsellor or author, I struggled with anxiety myself. At the time, I was working as a journalist and writer, and although I learned various ways of coping, many of the deeper questions remained unanswered.
I became a Christian in my mid-thirties.
Becoming a Christian did not make my anxiety disappear overnight, nor has it resolved every struggle. But it did begin a process of learning to understand myself, my anxieties, and my circumstances through the truth of God's Word.
Over time, I became increasingly convinced that lasting change involves more than simply managing thoughts or symptoms. As I studied Scripture, I began to see the importance of identity in Christ, understanding what it means to be accepted and declared righteous before God through faith in Jesus Christ.
I also found myself examining many of the beliefs I had previously held about anxiety, suffering, and myself, bringing them into the light of Scripture and allowing God's truth to challenge and reshape them. I learned the importance of steadfastness in suffering, the renewal of the heart and mind through God's Word, and the practical application of biblical truth in everyday life.
What I now call Christ-Based Thinking grew out of that journey. It is my attempt to describe the habit of bringing thoughts, fears, and experiences into submission to God's truth, learning to think about life through the lens of Scripture and the gospel.
Before training as a counsellor, I spent many years working in journalism, communications,
and humanitarian projects in Central America, Southeast Asia, and West Africa. Those
experiences deepened my desire to serve others and continue to shape my commitment to
Christian mission today.
I now live in Northern Ireland, where I write, study, and counsel. Through Christ-Based
Thinking, my desire is to help Christian women understand anxiety and related struggles
through the lens of God's Word, trusting that lasting transformation comes through the Word
of God applied by the Holy Spirit.
All profits from The Anxiety Lie and The Anxiety Lie Devotional are given to support Christian ministry overseas.
